The Wawel Dragon snatching a suitcase, Kraków's legendary characters, and the art of optical illusion – discover Dragon Gate 0, an interactive mural at Kraków Airport that transforms an ordinary walkway between the passenger terminal and Hilton Garden Inn Kraków Airport into an extraordinary photo experience.

We created it for travelers who want to pause for a moment, capture a unique photo, and take home an original souvenir from Kraków.
At Hilton Garden Inn Kraków Airport, we believe that memorable experiences extend beyond the hotel room. Dragon Gate 0 is our way of bringing together Kraków's traditions, modern technology, and creative fun in a space that connects people and their travel stories every day.
The star of the mural is, of course, the Wawel Dragon, who, instead of guarding his cave, is now trying to steal a traveler's suitcase! This unusual scene also features other iconic symbols of Kraków, including Lajkonik, Stańczyk, Lady with an Ermine, Skuba the Shoemaker, and some of the city's most recognizable landmarks.

The entire composition blends local history with contemporary art and a playful sense of humor. We wanted visitors to Kraków to discover the city's iconic symbols as soon as they arrived at the airport, while having a little fun along the way.
The mural was created using the trompe-l'œil technique, an art form based on optical illusion that uses perspective and composition to create a three-dimensional effect. The characters and graphic elements appear to extend beyond the wall, inviting passersby to step right into the story.
The Dragon Gate 0 mural is an original project developed entirely by the team at Hilton Garden Inn Kraków Airport. From the initial creative concept and selection of Kraków-inspired themes to the final composition, every element was designed in-house.
We used artificial intelligence to generate the artwork, combining the possibilities of modern technology with our team's creativity. The finished design was then applied directly to the wall using specialized wall-printing technology.
As part of the project, we also renovated and repainted the connecting walkway, giving the entire space a fresh, welcoming appearance. Our goal was to transform an area used by travelers every day into a more inviting and inspiring place – somewhere worth stopping, even if just for a moment.
Dragon Gate 0 is located in the covered pedestrian walkway connecting the Kraków Airport passenger terminal with Hilton Garden Inn Kraków Airport.

If you're staying at our hotel and heading to the airport, you'll find it on your way to the terminal. If you've just arrived in Kraków, you can discover it by following the walkway from the terminal toward the hotel.
It's the perfect spot for one last photo before departure or your very first picture after arriving in the capital of the Lesser Poland region.
Imagine the Wawel Dragon trying to steal your suitcase. Step up to the mural, reach out your hands, and act out a playful tug-of-war with the dragon. You can also try to scare him away, escape his claws, or strike a pose like a hero from a Kraków legend.

Ask your travel companion to take a photo from a short distance, making sure to capture both you and the surrounding scene. Experiment with perspective, gestures, and facial expressions – that's how you can make the most of the optical illusion and create the most entertaining shots.
Did you manage to rescue your suitcase from the Wawel Dragon? Or perhaps you came up with a completely new interpretation of our Kraków legend? We'd love to see it!

Every photo is more than just a personal souvenir – it's a digital postcard from Kraków that can reach and inspire travelers from around the world.
